Jessica Alba's bondage pics
By Ruth Doherty on Friday 12 September 2008
Jessica Alba used shock tactics in a bondage-style shoot – to encourage Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential elections.
The new mum posed with her mouth strapped up in bondage-style tape for the campaign, which was shot by celebrity photographer Mark Liddel.
According to The Sun, she said of the saucy shoot: ‘It didn't freak me out at all. What I like about Marc's work is that he tells a story and brings real emotion to his pictures.’
The Fantastic Four actress agreed to model in the shoot to encourage young Americans to make use of their right to vote.
But what exactly is the campaign trying to say?
Jessica explained: ‘If you don't register and vote and make a difference, and hopefully change the bad things that are happening in our country, you are essentially just binding and muzzling yourself.’
Jessica wasn’t the only celeb to take part in the shoot – Christina Aguilera also took the opportunity to make a visual statement, by being shot with her mouth seemingly stitched up.

It’s great to see these powerful women using their status to promote a proactive stance on using your voice to effect positive societal change.

I'm confused as to why "powerful" Hollywood women have to be portrayed in such disturbingly submissive ways to convey their message. Not impressed at all, these images frighten me.

Wow, these photographs, these statements are so intense. I can actually feel what it is their trying to say and I agree with it. Now that I know women care (which I already knew), we need the power of the male celebrities to influence the guys.

Wow, these pictures are so striking and thought provoking. What a fantastic idea to get these talented beautiful women involved in a campaign to get young people voting!
So many young people I know and work with don't intend to vote whether the elections in this country are local or national. It is such a shame that people don't take the opportunity to vote when it can have such a huge impact on the way we live.
I hope these images encourage the people of the U.S to vote and it would be great to see celebrities of the U.K do something similar nearer to our next local and general elections.

Will it even matter though? It's been proven the elections were stolen (Stephen Spoonamore, Diebold cover up per SAIC). The government has been run w/o the consent of the people for 8 years now and probably will in the future. Paper ballots would help!

I agree these photos are scary. They also have strong sexual connotations. Why do women allow themselves to be portrayed this way. These women are misguided in their portrayal of promoting pro-activity in the elections. I'm sure they could have found another way to show support. Bet a man thought of that one!

Dear Bea-get over yourself! Would your reaction be the same if these were male stars similarly muzzled? I am heartily sick of so called feminists desperate to grasp every opportunity to claim the victim label for women. We Western women are supremely well off and should celebrate that by being big enough to act as a human being first, of one sex second.

Firstly I would feel strongly if a male took part in this campaign to. It is sending a strong message to not just women but men as well. So what if these women are taking part in this. Women were neglected in the past and now that our voices are being heard we should have a right to demonstrate that. And this wasn't just a way to get publicity. It was a way to get other people's voices heard who have been silenced. Seriously get out there and make a difference. Men and women. It doesn't matter who is making this statement it still had to be heard from someone.
