Madonna dazzles at Ritchie premiere

Marie Claire News: Madonna & Guy Ritchie

Madonna stood by her man last night at the London premiere of RocknRolla - showing the world that she's not about to take those troubled marriage rumours lying down.

But the singing superstar threatened to steal husband Guy Ritchie's thunder as she wowed the crowds in a stunning diamond-encrusted black satin dress by her friend Stella McCartney.

The couple have been plagued by rumours their marriage is in trouble for months now, but the pair looked happy and relaxed on the red carpet – and Guy Ritchie didn't even seem to mind that Madonna was an hour late.

The star has just begun her Sticky and Sweet world tour but flew in over the weekend from Zurich to support Ritchie at his premiere. She'll head to Amsterdam for a performance tomorrow.

Guy was obviously in a jovial mood; when asked about the sometimes scathing book about Madonna by her brother Christopher Ciccone, he said: 'I haven't read it.' And when told it was doing well, he replied: 'Apparently, she's very popular. She's going to be big.'

Asked by the Daily Mail what he did to keep his marriage alive, he said: 'You've just got to love your wife', adding: 'Is that boring enough?'

Guy's latest film, RocknRolla, is another gangster movie. When asked about his fascination with the underworld, he said: 'Actually I don't know much about the underworld - it's all made up.

'[But] I like it because it's an efficient polarisation of humans.

'You can get to the good and bad, the grey, the black and the white more efficiently. It's not that I'm obsessed with the underworld, it's that I'm obsessed with humans and the way they interact with one another. I think we all are.'

RocknRolla has so far received good reviews, being touted as a return to form on a par with Guy's most successful movies, Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. This will surely be a great relief to Ritchie, whose last two films, Revolver and Swept Away, were universally panned.
