Tom Cruise and his production company are being sued for $11 million, by twelve extras who were injured on the set of the actor's new film, Valkyrie.

The WWII movie was filmed in Berlin last year, with the accident taking place in August. The twelve men suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises when a German army truck broke open as it drove around a corner.

A lawyer for the men, Ariane Bluttner, told Reuters Television that it is believed that the truck had not been sufficiently secured, causing the accident.

Bluttner commented, 'A new letter has been sent to Tom Cruise, (business partner) Paula Wagner and United Artists, in which we set out the facts of the case again and put a figure on the legal demands of our clients... of $11 million.'

The film has been plagued by problems since filming began, with the German Government initially banning the crew from filming on location in Berlin.

Although filming was eventually allowed, it was after fierce national debate on Cruise's belief in Scientology, which in Germany is considered a cult.

The film was due for release in July, but has been postponed until December.
