Amy Winehouse's new album inspired by Wizard of Oz
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has revealed the inspiration behind her
upcoming album - the Wizard of Oz.
Winehouse's follow-up to her Grammy award-winning album Back to Black
will reportedly include samples of the original tracks from the 1939
Judy Garland film.
Along with the title theme song, well-known tracks from the musical
include Over the Rainbow, composed by Harold Arlen.
Winehouse's work on her third album has been delayed by her ongoing
battle with drugs.
She was due to work on the theme tune for the new James Bond film with
DJ Mark Ronson but had to halt work due to health problems.
The commission was given to the American singer Alicia Keys and Jack
White, frontman of The White Stripes instead.
Winehouse's 2006 album was influenced by 1960s soul music while Frank,
her debut album, had a jazz feel. It was nominated for two Brits and the
Mercury Music Prize, and won her an Ivor Novello songwriting award.
