Beyonce lightened for L'Oreal?
A picture of Beyonce in a L'Oréal ad campaign is causing a furore in the US – with critics suggesting the beauty giant has tampered with the pictures to make the star look paler.
The singer appears in an advert for a Feria highlighting kit – which explains the strawberry blonde hair – but US newspapers have accused L'Oreal of 'whitewashing' the pics by digitally lightening her skin.
The New York Post, under the headline Beyoncé The Pale, called the advert 'shocking' and accused the company of making the singer look like a 'weird, nearly white version of herself'.
US gossip website TMZ called the advert 'severely Photoshopped', adding: 'L'Oréal has some serious explaining to do about its bleached-out Beyoncé ad!'
It is, however, unlikely that Knowles would have let the advert run if she herself had a problem with it. Her spokesman yesterday declined to comment.
And L'Oréal yesterday denied the claims, stating: 'It is categorically untrue that L'Oréal Paris altered Ms Knowles' features or skin tone in the campaign.'

Let's look at the bigger picture here... It's a know fact that especially in this country the use of black models does not sell as well as white models. The media feels the 'lighter look' is more acceptable... How sad is that?

I cant believe the comment by Kymmiisha was actually published, surely we're commenting on the photo shoot and not having a "lets slag off Beyonce" moment?
For the record she does look very washed out.

I think the photo has been altered in some way - just compare the photo of Beyonce with the one on this month's cover of Marie Claire. One black girl, one white girl - both with the same colour skin. Whether Beyonce approves or not is unimportant - the point is that, once again, it is obvious that we're being shown 'perfect images' which make our daughters unhappy with the way they look.

if you look at any l'oreal add, all of the models/celebs have masses of white light on their faces. add this to the fact that Beyonce is genuinely much paler than the average black woman due to her heritage. this is soooo blown out of proportion.

There is no way that Beyonce would have authorised that photo unless she was happy with it herself. I don't think its a case of white people wanting to "wash out" black people - Beyonce is fuly in control of her own career and I'm sure she was more than in control of the approval for that photo!

Typical L'O'real, 'plausible deniability'. Get the snapper to shoot from certain angles, create the right lighting and bingo! Black becomes white and thus their demographic is satisfied. L'O'real = racist

Kymmiisha you are very harsh. It's is highly unlikely that she requested the photoshopping. Beyonce is not to blame - L'O'real whitewash is to blame - stop blaming black people for white people wanting to "wash us out"!
