Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick have allegedly been 'living separate lives for some time', according to US reports.

Claims emerged last week in the US press that SJP's husband of 11 years had had an affair with an unknown youth worker, whilst the actress was filming Sex and The City: The Movie, last November.

Although the sensationalised allegations seemed unfounded – since the couple are looked upon as one of the most solid pairings in showbiz – the story has snowballed and Broderick's 'no comment' stance from his representative, Simon Hall, just added fuel to the fire.

According to a US magazine, there is an increasing strain on the couple's marriage and they have rarely been spotted out together over the past few months.

One source spoke out saying: 'Sarah and Matthew have been struggling for years. Now that news of Matthew's cheating has broken, they have decided to make things work – especially for the sake of their son, James.'

Despite reports that SJP is 'devastated' by the accusations that Broderick had a three-month affair with a 25-year-old, she apparently wants to remain married for the sake of their son.

'Sarah's in a lot of pain,' one neighbour told Star magazine. 'It's hard to believe Matthew would cheat on her once, let alone several times over the course of months.'

This is a very sad time for SJP and I hope they can get passed it!But when it happened to me I found it much harder to "forgive and forget"and ended up divorced!

They also seemed in my opinion oddly not suited. I think Sarah should move on and find a man that gets her and kids have a huge resilience.Marriage shouldn't be a permanent uphill battle. I don't think they should stay together for the sake of their child

It's odd that such an up and standing couple have this happen to them. But thru the years SJP, was always hustling for him, getting his clothes to go out in and everything else. I think he really hurt her in the worst way he could. She's a lovely young woman and I'm sure there are plenty of men out there that will know how to show her that she's #1 in their lives. Something Broderick never did.

I worship SJP - she is an icon/fantastic role model! No-one deserves this, I hope it doesn't affect her too badly. She seems strong so I doubt this is the end of my favourite Sex n City Star! Loved the film by the way - massive thumbs up!
