Russell Brand to host MTV Awards

Things are on the up for Russell Brand, with the announcement that he is to present the American MTV Awards.

The role is quite a coup for the UK presenter, as he is still relatively unknown Stateside, and will be the first ever Brit to front the awards ceremony.

It is rumoured that he will receive $1 million for the gig.

The lucrative role is just another sign that Brand has succeeded in his mission to break America.

He was named as one of the 10 comics to watch in Hollywood magazine Variety, and a sequel is already in the works for his breakthrough movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Brand has also landed roles in two Adam Sandler films, one which has already been filmed.
