Matthew McConaughy's girlfriend gives birth

Matthew McConaughy and his Brazilian model girlfriend welcomed a baby boy yesterday afternoon in Los Angeles.

According to American magazine US Weekly, the baby weighed a healthy 7lb 4oz, but has yet to be named.

It comes on the same day Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman gave birth to a girl - Sunday Rose Kidman Urban - in Nashville.

McConaughey announced the pregnancy in January, writing on his blog: 'We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life.'  

He added: 'Wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution. '

The pair have been dating since the beginning of 2007.
