Heath Ledger posthumous Oscar hope

By Ruth Doherty  on Wednesday 2 July 2008

Marie Claire News: Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger's co-stars of the Dark Knight are lobbying for him to win a posthumous Oscar for his eerily brilliant portrayal of The Joker.

Ledger's role has received early rave reviews and his co-stars have nothing but praise for his performance.

Gary Oldman told E! Online: 'Heath had this frequency none of us could hear. The Academy tends to overlook movies like this, but this acting is so good it's going to be very hard for them to avoid it.'

A Rolling Stone review was equally effusive: 'I can only speak superlatives of Ledger, who is mad-crazy-blazing brilliant as the Joker,' it reads.

'If there's a movement to get him the first posthumous Oscar since Peter Finch won for 1976's Network, sign me up.'

I have not seen this film but I have no doubt that heath's performance was brilliant, and I totally agree with the idea to give him an Oscar.
