Uma Thurman has got engaged to her multimillionaire Swiss boyfriend, Arpad 'Arki' Busson.

The star's representative, Stephen Huvane, said today: 'I can confirm she is engaged'.

The A-list actress has been given a huge sparkler to seal the deal; an 8-plus carat diamond centre stone surrounded by 20 smaller stones. A close friend of the couple commented: 'It's the most beautiful piece I've ever seen. Arki did a wonderful job'.

The couple started dating last summer after attending a private dinner together in Milan. Their relationship blossomed from there, despite the difficulty of living on different continents.

The marriage will be Thurman's third. The star married actor Gary Oldman in 1990, but split two years later. She married her second husband, Ethan Hawke, in 1998 after meeting on the set of Gattaca, but the couple filed for divorce in 2004. The pair have a son and daughter together. Busson was previously in a relationship with Elle Macpherson until their split in 2005. He has two sons with the former supermodel.
