Anne Hathaway splits from boyfriend

Anne Hathaway has split from long-term boyfriend Raffaello Follieri.

The Devil Wears Prada star, and former Marie Claire cover girl, apparently ended her four-year relationship with the 29-year-old businessman at the weekend.

The news comes following months of scandal surrounding Follieri whose charity, Follieri Foundation - which in the past has funded vaccination programmes in the developing world - is currently being investigated by the New York State Attorney General's Office.

Last year, Follieri also turned himself into the police after a business associate accused him of writing a cheque for $215,000 which bounced. All charges were dropped when he settled the amount outstanding, but the couple were said to have split temporarily at the time.

'It's heartbreaking for her to dump him, and she's devastated that it's come to this, but she really didn't have a choice. His scandals were hurting her reputation,' a source tells the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, on-set sources from Bride Wars, Anne's most recent film, claim the pair were often seen arguing when he visited. 'They fought so much while Anne was making the movie, she genuinely started to wonder if the relationship was worth all the pain,' one revealed.

'Raffaello would only ever visit her on sets for short periods of time.

'He was very caught up in his social life and making connections in New York, and stories would get back to Anne about his late nights and carousing, usually with models in the immediate vicinity.'

Hollywood is now hoping Anne will make the move to LA having insisted in the past she would always stay on the east coast to be near to her boyfriend.

'Even though she loves being near her family, a move to Los Angeles could mean better roles, more money, and a better pool of potential boyfriends.'
