See Coleen in her wedding dress!
By Lucy Hutchings on Thursday 12 June 2008
Coleen McLoughlin and Wayne Rooney were married this morning in a civil ceremony in the town of Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy.
Facing every bride's worst nightmare, Coleen had to battle rainstorms as she was escorted to the bridal car. She was shaded by a large black umbrella as she made her way to the Genova harbour, where she became Mrs Rooney in a 20 minute ceremony.

Wearing what is thought to be her first wedding dress of the day, Coleen chose a strapless prom dress for the ceremony, with a full layered chiffon skirt that stopped just at the ankle.
From the bright red soles, it also appears that her white court shoes were by celebrity-favourite, Christian Louboutin.
It is thought that the bride will change into a £100,000 Marchesa gown for the blessing and wedding breakfast, due to take place at La Cervara abbey today.
Just a small group of family and friends attended the ceremony, which was led by deputy mayor Gianni Costa.
Speaking after the couple left, Mr Costa commented, 'It was a simple ceremony with around 15 people inside, mostly family. The bride looked lovely in white and the groom wore a brown suit with no tie.'
He added, 'No rings were exchanged and the ceremony was very simple yet very beautiful.'

Good luck to both of them. But i think the cost of the wedding is OTT when you think about the people who are living on the bread line.

re:the dress - it that it?!

To be perfectly honest, I think that the amount this wedding has cost them is absolutely horrendous and quite obscene when there are starving children in the World.

well she would have had better weather if she had wed in her home town..its a beautiful sunny day in the NorthWest today...and it would have cost a damn site less

Good luck to both of them, but I think the cost of the wedding was over the top when some people are living on the breadline.

IF I COULD MAKE THAT SORT OF MONEY,AND EARN IT GETTING MARRIED AS WELL, I WOULD. I HOPE THAT IT ALL GOES TO PLAN FOR THEM, AND WHATS MORE IT'S NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING HAPPY ON THE NEWS FOR A CHANGE,CONGRATULATIONS,AND WELL DONE WAYNE AND COLLEEN......

A fashion student in the UK could have made the same dress at a fraction of the cost - what happened to the girl from the working class background?

This comment goes out to Joy Cross.... Everyone with money doesn’t have to give to Africa or the starving children... I’m sure if you had that sort of money they had you’d splash out on nice things too. Every girl dreams of an expensive and beautiful wedding...and that’s all that they did...splash out a lot for their dream day. Coleen looked beautiful btw :)

Reading some of these comments is really pretty sad tbh. 'I think the cost of the wedding was over the top when some people are living on the breadline' yeah; I know what you mean but. It’s their money, they work hard for it & they can spend it how they want. The average wedding these days is thousands & thousands but people put it on credit cards + get seriously into debt. At least with Wayne + Coleen they can afford it straight out, they can spend what they want on their big day. 'What happened to the girl from the working class background?' she's still there- but she’s aloud to get some treats in life you know. She works like everyone else, she’s doing the career she chose to do, and as I said- it’s her money to do what she wants to do with. Yeah it was raining- it didn’t stop them having a great day did it? They love each other, like every other married couple + that’s what matters.

A big fuss for nothing! It's obscene that so much money has been wasted on this 'event' and that's just what it is - an event, at least in their movie - lets see what they can achieve in married life.

Any negative comments being made are obviously from jealous people. if you've got that sort of money why not have the best, surely any body in their right mind would. Why settle for second best, when you can have the best. Good luck to them both. P.s she looks lovely.

I agree with Mary- Ann, I'm into dressmaking and i think that designer dresses and clothes for that matter are overpriced. At the other end of the scale however, not many people realise just how much work goes into making a garment. So it's not really Coleen's fault, it's the designers for charging too much! I can't wait to see the pics in OK! I just hope she turns out to be a bit of a Miss Jolie and does lots of charity work after.

I personally think the cost is a little obscene, but it is their money they're spending so it's none of my business. It is tragic that there are starving children in the world, but, to be blunt, I don't think we should expect people with money to be feel guilty about it and to believe it's their fault.
Comment by Anne on June 15 13:59
i think for the money that she paid for a dress you would think that it would be big and outstanding not a small prom dress lookalike.

Coleen looked again gorgeous. Why don't jealous girls just leave them alone? Anything that costs the earth doesn't have to be big and brassy, small and classy every time. Coleen you did it again. x

I thought Coleen looked very nice and I think she has a lovely personality. However their was such a great expectation for her wedding and personally for me it didn't reach the expectations. I thought for the expense her wedding dress looked very cheap and quite old fashioned. But it was her choice - so all the best.
