Tom Cruise latest Oprah interview

Tom Cruise has revisited Oprah's sofa - and, amongst other things, revealed why he jumped all over it last time the chat show queen interviewed him.

In a two-part interview to celebrate the actor's 25 years in showbusiness - one show based in the studio and one based at Cruise's Telluride home - Oprah pressed Tom on why he felt the need to jump on her sofa and Tom revealed it was just a 'moment' and how he felt about Katie at the time.

He jokingly added that Oprah 'egged' him on, and admitted that if he'd realised the furore it was going to cause, perhaps he wouldn't have done it.

But a host of his celebrity friends sang his praises in a series of star tributes.

Will Smith appeared on screen saying: 'There's not a single piece of press ... a single image in the 25 years of his career that gets anywhere near capturing who he is.'

His wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, said: 'Nothing that he's done professionally holds a candle to who he is as a human being - and that's real.'

Cruise's co-star in Jerry Maguire, Renée Zellweger , revealed: 'I didn't need to conjure motivation to say that line,' she says about the famous, 'You had me at "hello."' 'I walked in and there he was.'

New best pal Victoria Beckham also made a tribute. She said: '[Tom and Katie] really know how to have a laugh.' The singer also revealed that she went to Jerry Maguire on her first date with David Beckham.
