Ashlee Simpson engaged

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have become the latest celebrity couple to get engaged.

The happy couple posted a comment on friendsorenemies.com saying: ‘We are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.’

Older sister Jessica Simpson said her younger sibling is ‘overflowing with joy’, adding: ‘Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn't be happier.’

And their dad, Joe, confirmed that Wentz, the bassist for rock band Fall Out Boy, went down the traditional route of asking him before he went down on one knee.

‘[Pete] did ask me,’ says Joe. ‘I told him that I would be honoured to have him as part of my family.’

I think Pete and Ashlee won't last long. First of all, Pete is emo, and Ashlee is not, that's alot of difference. But if Ashlee understands this, they may go further than Jessica and Nick's marrige. I am not going to disagree that they are a prety couple, but stars marying stars tend to drift away. One maby has to go to the other side of the contry, or maby even to another country, while the other is on a music tour. They could also have a big argument and split apart. Like, Pete could think that the fact that Ashlee lipsang was crule to her fans. But, again, I congradgulate the couple and give them good wishes! I hope you both have a happy ever after!

I absolutely love Pete and i admit there was a small bit of hope that him and I could be together. But if Pete is happy, I am happy. Even if it does destroy my dreams.
