Naomi Campbell was yesterday removed from a plane at Heathrow and arrested after flying into a rage and spitting at a policeman because staff lost one of her bags.

The 37-year-old supermodel, notorious for her foul temper, allegedly spat at a policeman who was called to calm her down, then restrained and hauled off the plane, kicking and screaming.

Naomi was LA-bound, where she was due to make a TV appearance, and when staff informed her that one of her bags – containing clothes for the appearance – had not been loaded on the flight, she flew into a rage.

It is thought the bag was too heavy.

Campbell reportedly screamed at staff: 'This is a joke, right? Why can't you do anything right? Get all my bags on this flight! I'm Naomi Campbell.'

Witnesses said the model began screaming and swearing at staff, waving her arms.

After a 'sustained' period of alleged abuse she got off the plane before boarding it again and continuing to shout and swear - prompting BA staff to call the police.

She was then frogmarched off the plane in handcuffs, arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and taken to Heathrow police station.

One witness said: 'She was screaming and shouting, effing and blinding and complaining that she did not have her clothes for her television appearance.

'I've never seen anything like it.'

Naomi was released on bail this morning. At 1am her press agent, Celena Aponte, gave a statement outside the police station, saying: 'She arrived in plenty of time at Heathrow Terminal 5 with two bags, checked them in, and told they were taken to the flight.

'Once on the flight, she was told one bag could not be found and was missing.

'British Airways decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight, calling the police, and forcibly ejected her from the flight.'

Aponte said she could not comment on Naomi's behaviour.

Yesterday a police spokesman said: 'We can confirm that at 17.13pm police were called to a disturbance at Terminal 5, Heathrow. A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.'

British Airways declined to comment.

Naomi could be jailed for up to six months if she is charged with assaulting a police officer under new guidelines published in February.

Terminal 5 has been in chaos since it opened last week, with hundreds of flights cancelled and thousands of bags missing, but Naomi Campbell is the only one of 280,000 passengers who required police intervention.

this is what happens when a simple celebrity thinks they have magically become royalty. it's kind of nauseating. what is her claim to fame...walking down a runway ... well there you go haha

This woman has a serious problem as evidenced by her many tantrums reported in the news. Rather than be forever thankful for her hard won position in life she seems to think that the rules of civil behavour do not apply to her.
It is disappointing to see her waste her celebrity when she could be doing so many positive things.

Soon, I would think, she will become a liability and fade away.

It sounds like to me she had other issues and something this small set her off. If that were me I would take some of the millions of dollars out of my freakin gucci purse and bought more clothes. Shes gross. Can you believe she is supposed to be a refined 37 year old super model, or a snot nosed child?

Naomi, are you really like this? Who do you think you are... Oh yeah that's right your Noami Campbell a super model... someone who is nasty enough to spit on someone.

Trust me, if you acted as if you were gonna spit on me. I swear I'd beat ya your high fashion ass into the ground.

The rest of us will put up with the shambles created by BAA... mutter quietly and fade away.
She did what we all want to do: She was mad and she wasn't gonna take it anymore. Good for her.
As for fading away...did YOU ever burn so bright in your life...I doubt it.

I cannot blame her for going into a rage, I have felt like doing so myself the last few times I have had to deal with airports and the airlines, they absolutely suck at every form of customer relations and do not dare speak back you will be punished by the almighty ones!!!!

Naomi: People in and out of the fashion industry may refer to you as a "Supermodel" but there is nothing in this behavior that is 'super'....get with real life! Wouldn't it be of more value to be a "Super Role Model"? Take yourself to a few orphanages or take a look at the indigent people around the world, and get a better perspective on things. Your behavior is shameful!
