George Clooney Olympic pressure

George Clooney is becoming involved in the fight over 2008 Olympic host country China's trade links with Sudan – because of his deal with the event's sponsors Omega.



Clooney is signed up to promote the luxury watch brand, which has been an Olympic partner since 1932.



Now, the actor – a United Nations Messenger of Peace – is allegedly asking the firm to use its position to pressure China over its business links with the African country, where more than 200,000 people have been killed and more than two million have become refugees since civil war broke out in 2003.



Clooney's involvement comes a month after director Steven Spielberg pulled out of his role as Olympic Artistic Director for Sudan-related political reasons.
