Britney Spears' worried family have urged the star to quit showbiz for the sake of her health – but US reports claim the star is planning a 2008 global tour.

Britney's cousin, and one-time personal assistant, Alli Simms, revealed the family have set up a round-the-clock vigil over Britney – and have even urged her to give up showbiz altogether.

She told the Mirror: 'She needs to rein herself in. She needs to take a break from the limelight - from showbiz - and just concentrate on getting herself better, and being with her family. 'I was with her today and, as a family, we take it in turns to be with her and watch over her 24/7. But it was just great that she was able to come out with us earlier - it's a small step but an important one.

'Britney is so anxious and so on-the-edge right now. She is incredibly keen to go out and doesn't understand when we tell her that it's not a good idea.'

She added: 'At the same time, she desperately wants to be with her boys and be a great mother - and we want her to be as well.

'She just needs to have a break for as long as it takes until she's completely better. We are with her 100 per cent of the way.'

But reports in the NY Post claim that Britney, who has been spending a lot of time at the dance studio since her spell in psychiatric care, is planning on doing a world tour.

Britney 'will be leaving the country in the next few weeks,' a source told the paper. 'She’ll train in privacy for a month, then go on a global tour.'
