Heath Ledger memorial service

Heath Ledger's memorial service took place in Australia this weekend, attended by hundreds of mourners, including family, friends and celebrity colleagues.
The ceremony took place on Saturday, almost three weeks after Heath's death from an accidental overdose on 22 January.
Heath's former fiancée, Michelle Williams, attended the service, without their two-year-old daughter Matilda. The actress stayed close to the Ledger family throughout the day, including his parents Kim and Sally, and his sister Kate.
As an emotional final farewell during the wake for the Brokeback Mountain actor, around fifty of the mourners ran into the ocean as the sun was setting on the Cottesloe Beach, one of Heath's favourite spots. Williams joined the crowd, still wearing the cream beaded dress she had worn during the funeral.
As the mourners entered the water, Heath's dad Kim stood from the shore shouting: 'Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray.'
Amongst Heath's many colleagues, Cate Blanchett, his co-star in Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There, attended, as did his former girlfriend, model Gemma Ward
A private funeral will now take place in Perth, for which Kim Ledger appealed for complete privacy. He told press, 'The funeral will be very, very private and there will only be ten people there, immediate family and nobody else.'

The death of this talented, tortured and gorgeous your man has affected me deeply. Accidental one would hope as he had a lot more to give, although it seems he was driving himself way too hard. If there is a lesson to be learned it's that one can get help rather than rely on pills - a tragedy could have been avoided. Having seen his 'shrine' with all ages filing past, his untimely death has surely touched us all.
