Vanity Fair cancels Oscar party
The biggest bash on Oscar night, the Vanity Fair party, has been cancelled in recognition of the ongoing writer's strike.
The star-studded annual party normally draws a who's who of Hollywood A-listers, however in a drastic move to support the Writers Guild of America, this year the magazine has called off the event.
Vanity Fair released a statement saying: 'After much consideration, and in support of the writers and everyone else affected by this strike, we have decided that this is not the appropriate year to hold our annual Oscar party.
Adding: 'We want to congratulate all of this year's nominees and we look forward to hosting our 15th Oscar party next year.'
Organisers of the Academy Awards, set to take place on 24 February, insist that the ceremony will still go ahead at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre, however some actors have come out in support of the writers and say they will not cross any picket lines.
