Rumours that Jennifer Lopez is expecting twins have been confirmed by none other than her own father.

David Lopez let slip the exciting news in an interview on the Spanish-language show Escandalo TV.

‘Yes, twins’ he stated. ‘The thing is in my family, my sister also had twins, so it’s a hereditary thing.’

He added: ‘'I’m very proud. Jennifer has yearned to be a mother for many years.’

And the proud Granddad-to-be said he already has a gift lined up for his 38-year-old daughter’s babies.

‘In Puerto Rico it's custom to buy an azabache [black stone] bracelet for babies to protect them from the evil eye, it's part of our culture,’ he said.

Jennifer announced her pregnancy with third hubby Marc Anthony last November.

twins pass down the women's side of the family. This is obviously an IVF pregnancy.
