Amy Winehouse seeks US visa

Marie Claire news: Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was temporarily released from rehab yesterday – to apply for a US visa.

The troubled singer left the London clinic for just a few hours to meet officials at the US Embassy.

But the star didn’t go it alone – she was accompanied by her father, Mitch, and a nurse, as the terms of her treatment mean she must remain under supervision at all times.

It is believed Winehouse is applying for a visa to enable her to attend the Grammys in LA on 10 February, where she is nominated for six awards.

However, a spokesman for the star revealed no definite decision has been made about whether she will attend, saying: ‘The appointment at the US Embassy was made some time ago and was part of process for obtaining a visa. No decision has been made about the Grammys. Amy was accompanied by a nurse, as the appointment was under supervision. She has not left rehab and remains under the care of the clinic.’

Amy was banned from America last October after she was arrested and fined in Norway for possession of cannabis.
