Britney finally gets help

Britney Spears Rex Features

Britney Spears’ latest hospital dash was a ‘meticulously planned’ move on worried mum Lynne Spears’ behalf.

The singer was taken to the UCLA Medical Centre around 1.30am after a carefully staged intervention planned by her mother, with the police calling ahead to waiting medics with the message: ‘The package is on its way.’

Around 30 policemen escorted the ambulance, with Lynne's team of helpers included Britney's father Jamie and her brother Jamie, along with representatives from Britney's legal team and record label Jive Records.

One source told the Daily Mail: ‘Something like this has been in the works since the [last trip to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center]. She has been seeing her psychiatrist every day. ‘No one thought this would happen this soon, but it was clear if she stayed up for more than three days she'd have to get sent, since that could cause real damage. The last time she slept was Saturday.’

In fact, it has been reported that Britney had been keeping herself awake with a diet of 20 cans of red bull a day, combined with ten stimulant laxatives and anxiety and prescription drugs.

The source said: ‘Britney’s behaviour became really frightening. She flew into a manic phase. She hadn’t slept for more than 60 hours and had been staying awake with prescription pills and Red Bull.

‘She was pale, shaking, and talking to herself in her strange British accent. We tried to give her sleeping pills to calm her down, but they didn’t work.

‘Her psychologist came back to her house along with her mum, but Britney just screamed obscenities.

‘She was psychotic. Her doctor and her family had been planning for weeks to get her into a psychiatric ward and they knew they couldn’t wait any longer, so called the police.

‘By the time the ambulance came, Britney had calmed down and became very quiet and sad.’

Britney is on a three-day psychiatric hold, but sources say there is a ‘good possibility’ that it will be extended to 14 days.
Insiders say that Britney became agitated again upon arrival at the hospital, and even accused mum Lynne of ‘sleeping with my boyfriend’.

But Lynne is determined to help Britney get better, and is planning to whisk her back to her home in Louisiana with her when the star has completed her time in psychiatric care.

Meanwhile, sources say that Kevin Federline agrees that Britney should be receiving treatment, and that he wants her to get better for the sake of their sons.

‘Kevin legitimately wants Britney to get better. He wants her to be in their sons' lives. He wants them to have a loving relationship. He wants her to get healthy so she can be the mother they need and deserve,’ says a friend.

I feel so sorry for her. I know that she has caused alot of this herself but everything in her life is just upside down now. I'm the same age as her and am so glad for my normal life!
