Scientology's celebrity benefactors revealed
Rex Features
Nancy Cartwright, the voice behind Bart Simpson, has donated $10 million to Scientology, making her the religion's biggest celebrity benifactor.
The actress has been awarded the Patron Laureate Award following her huge donation, which has been estimated as double her annual salary from the television show.
Scientology is not short of celebrities keen to help the cause. Its most famous advocate, Tom Cruise, has donated $5 million in the last four years, and Kirstie Alley reportedly gave $5 million last year. Couple John Travolta and Kelly Preston gave $1 million each in 2007, and Priscilla Presley donated $500,000.
US magazine Impact revealed that the donations were divulged at a secret ceremony, where donators were presented with awards for their generosity.

Does anyone else think that the Scientologists have lured these celebs into this seemingly-thought-of cult to get them to donate such large amounts of money? It's not a charity and surely doesn't need that amount of money - do they use it to buy fresh red carpets for when their celebs turn up??
Surely $10million could've gone to better use like say to a research charity??
I know nothing about Scientology but I struggle to contemplate what they would need such large amounts of money for.
