Amy Winehouse enters rehab

Amy Winehouse has realised she needs help - and has entered a rehab facility today.

Her record company has confirmed her decision. A statement from the Universal Music Group said: 'Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors.

'She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards. She is nominated in an incredible six categories.'

The 24-year-old has come under increasing pressure to seek help after The Sun aired a video of her allegedly smoking crack cocaine.

Police confirm they are still deciding whether to launch legal action against her over the video. 'The video has been handed in to us and we are still deciding what action will be taken,' explained a Metropolitan Police spokesman.

Amy still hopes to attend the Grammy Awards, but her planned appearance at the NRJ Awards in France this Saturday have been cancelled due to her rehab stint.

Poor Amy, she's really going through it. Hopefully the rehab will help. Looking forward to seeing and hearing her at the awards.
The sad thing is the person who handed the video into the police was probably doing it for a cash payout and not because they are a concerned friend of Amy's. Some people would sell their soul for money.

I have never really liked Amy Winehouse as a person. Maybe I shouldn't judge people like that, but I'm being honest. Anyway, inspite of that, it is such a shame that someone with a fantastic voice and incredible talent should feel it necessary to turn to drugs in order to find happiness. It would be tragic if she could no longer sing or, even worse, she died young like Heath Ledger. What a waste!
I wish her all the best and hope she can benefit from the help she's sought at last.
Amy - please don't throw your life away.
