Grammys face strike action

It seems the music industry is no longer safe from strike action, as the Writers' Guild of America (WGA) is threatening strike action at the Grammy Awards.

After the Golden Globes was reduced to nothing more than a news press conference last weekend, now the Grammy Music Swards look set to become the next casualty of the writers' strike, after WGA union members stated the music ceremony was 'unlikely' to receive a waiver.

A spokesman for the guild announced: 'While no guild decision has yet been made regarding the Grammys, if a waiver is requested for the Grammys, it is unlikely to be granted.'

Although the film industry is feeling the brunt of the strikes as writers row with studios over royalties, many A-list musicians including Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, 50 Cent and Jon Bon Jovi have all pledged their support for the WGA.

Now the biggest US music event of the year, set to take place on 10 February, is in jeopardy.
