It may seem like an unlikely pairing, but Katie Holmes and Christina Aguilera have announced they will star in an upcoming movie together.

New to the silver screen, Christina has signed to star alongside Katie in the family drama, Humboldt Park. Actor Freddy Rodriguez, who has appeared on screen in TV dramas from Scrubs to Ugly Betty, is also rumoured to have signed to the film.

The A-listers will begin filming next month and the film is set for release in 2009. An insider has revealed that '(Holmes) is trying to prove she can do more fluffy popcorn movies,' and starring alongside the popstrel 'shows she's willing to take risks.'
