Nicole Richie is expecting a baby boy, her father, Lionel, has revealed.

In a magazine interview, the singer let slip: 'Nicole is having a boy. She even has a few names picked out.'

The news won't come as a big surprise to those who've been following the celebrity's pregnancy: at her baby shower last weekend a number of guests had picked out blue gifts or presents with little boys appliquéd on the design.

The baby - Nicole and boyfriend Joel Madden's first - is due on New Year's Eve.
