Jessica Alba to tread boards on Broadway

JESSICA ALBA MAY follow in the footsteps of a long line of actresses and tread the boards on Broadway.

The Fantastic Four star is in talks to appear in a revival of David Mamet's play Speed-the-Plow, set to open next Spring.

With no stage experience, Alba will be laying herself open to fierce New York critics – but that didn't stop Madonna from taking on the role of Karen in Mamet's 1988 satire of Hollywood.

The Queen of Pop received fairly scathing reviews in the role of the secretary who is so clueless she can barely make a cup of coffee - but the part did little to damage Madonna's career.

The two male leads are still unconfirmed but rumours abound that The Sopranos stars James Gandolfini and Michael Imperioli are top of the director's wish list.
