BRITNEY SPEARS HAS revealed she is trying her hardest to be a good mum during an interview on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.

The troubled pop star appeared on the show to promote her new album, Blackout.

When asked if she was upset over the recent coverage of her custody battle with Kevin Federline, and criticism of her as a mother, the singer replied: 'People say what they want and do what they do. It's sad how people ... how cruel our world can be. But at the end of the day you gotta know in your heart that you are doing the best that you can.'

Seacrest then asked if she was doing the best with her sons, to which she said, 'Oh god, yeah, yeah.'

Britney also revealed that on the day of her album release (Tuesday) she was 'laidback' and didn't really celebrate. 'No, we watched movies, that's about it.'

And when asked if she's dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, Spears answered, 'Who?'

Meanwhile, Britney's parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, are giving their marriage another bash – five years after they divorced.

An insider tells Life & Style magazine: 'With all Britney's troubles, Lynne and Jamie started to talk to each other like adults, without the bitterness of feuding parents. They've been on dates and have cooked each other meals. Jamie has even stayed over at Lynne's a few times.'
