Boycott of Britney Spears album Blackout planned
FORMER FRIENDS OF Britney Spears plan to boycott the singer's new album, Blackout, in a bid to urge the star to get help for her addictions.
Old colleagues including a bodyguard, backup dancer and makeup artist, as well as several former friends are encouraging people to boycott the troubled star's album, released on 30 October, saying she must seek help and recover before she can concentrate on her career again.
The group has set up a MySpace page titled Be Proactive to Help in an effort to garner support for Britney and help her through this period. 'Don't buy her stuff until she's better' it reads. 'We've all hung out with Britney a lot. We've seen her at her best and at her worst. And we aren't doing this to be mean. We're doing this out of concern, for herself and for her boys. They need a mother figure and right now, they don't have that.'
One former friend who was involved in setting up the site said: 'Let them [Jive Records] know you'll buy her album, but not until she is clean and sober and realizes the amazing life she has created for herself.'
Of Jive Records, the record company producing Britney's latest offering the friend says: 'It's sad that people around Britney care so little about someone who makes them so much money.'
