Britney Spears loses custody of her children

BRITNEY SPEARS HAS temporarily lost custody of her children.



The troubled singer was ordered by LA Superior Court judge Scott M Gordon to hand over custody of her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to Kevin Federline from Wednesday 'until further order of the court'.



The order comes two weeks after Spears was charged with hit-and-run and driving without a valid Californian license offences.



She is accused of hitting a parked car in an LA car park on 6 August, and could face six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanour charges.



Judge Gordon recently found that Britney was a 'habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol', and ordered her to undergo random weekly drug and alcohol tests, along with parenting classes with Federline.



But the judge is obviously not impressed with her efforts.



A source told People magazine: 'It's been leading up to this all along. Nothing is surprising to anyone. The judge laid out a specific plan for each person to follow. She clearly could not.'



Representatives for Spears and Federline have so far been unavailable for comment.
