Britney hit-and-run charge dropped

BRITNEY SPEARS FINALLY had some good news this week after her hit-and-run charge was dropped by the owner of the car she hit back in August.

Kim Robard-Rifkin, whose car was parked in a private car park in the San Fernando Valley, California, when it was hit, was said to be 'very sympathetic toward Britney and hopes the best for her'.

However, while it's one step forward for the troubled pop tart, it's two steps back, with news her estranged mother is about to publish a tell-all autobiography and a former associate shopping her diaries and stolen emails to the British press.

Sam Lufti claims he has 'e-mails and firsthand insight into Britney's life' and has already had offers in excess of $1 million for exclusive rights to publish his stories.

However, negotiations stalled when Lufti demanded the tabloid double their offer. 'Sam wouldn't go back down on the price. It was $2 million or nothing. Sam said it had to be worth it because he was risking everything,' claims a source.

'The deal was almost done, but Sam demanded cash up front for his story. Ultimately, the publication refused.'

However, there's no doubt Mrs Spears' book is on its way. The publisher aims to have the 'personal story' on shelves by spring next year.
