Britney Spears to open MTV Video Music Awards
After much speculation it has been revealed that Britney Spears will open MTV's Video Music Awards this Sunday.
Rumours were rife that the troubled singer would be opening the prestigious industry event, but concerns were raised over whether she was up to the challenge.
Now the show's producer has confirmed that Britney will start the music awards show and perform her new single Gimme More from her upcoming album.
'I wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way, and she's the one to do that,' executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic told mtv.com. 'She'll captivate everyone, and set the tone for the rest of the night.'
Britney has consulted magician Criss Angel on 'some moments of the performance' for Sunday's show at the Palms Hotel and Casino, which might explain why the pair have been spotted together on a number of occasions recently.
Ignjatovic added: 'You can expect the things we want and expect from Britney – that will all be there. What I've seen of it is great. She'll be dancing, performing, doing her thing. That's exactly what we all want.'
