Missing Downton Abbey already? The show may have only finished last night but the Christmas special already feels like a long way off. To fill the void, a new featurette has been unveiled detailing the extent the cast and crew are forced to keep storylines a secret.

The video shows how details of Mary and Matthew’s wedding stayed out of the press with a team of 12 security operatives who had to hunt out the paparazzi in the bushes. Michelle Dockery, who plays Mary Crawley, reveals photographers were climbing tress to catch a glimpse of her character’s wedding dress.

Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley) backs this up by adding that a photo of Mary in the wedding dress could reach as much as £25,000. The crew went to great lengths to prevent such a picture being taken and made Michelle change in a guarded area.

With such high security surrounding the filming of wedding scenes, it’s not too far off the hype around Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. And it appears Lady Mary’s gown had a similar affect, as the Downton Abbey cast ‘gasped’ when Michelle emerged into the church.

Speaking of the event, Rob James-Collier (Thomas Barrow) said it’s always ‘mayhem’ when the cast get together although Hugh Bonneville (Lord Grantham) and Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates) couldn’t help but show how excited they were.
