She's the star of the Divergent series, and she's been pegged as the next Jennifer Lawrence - but how much do you know about her?

Shailene Woodley has been nominated for a Golden Globe and starred alongside George Clooney in an Oscar-nominated film.

But if you didn't see The Descendants, there's a chance you may not know who she is. Yet.

The 22-year-old American actress is about to tip over into global superstar territory, thanks to the upcoming release of her new film Divergent.

The highly anticipated film hits UK cinemas this Friday, which means you have two days to brush up on your Shailene knowledge. Here's what you need to know... 1. She's pegged to be the next Jennifer Lawrence.

You may as well start calling her Shay-Wood now, because all signs point to her following in J.Law's footsteps. In case you haven't jumped on the Divergent bandgwagon, it's the big-screen adaptation of book one of the dystopian trilogy by Veronica Roth. Shailene plays a brave heroine who has to fight to stay alive. Sound familiar?

Shailene also shares Jennifer's relaxed attitude toward fame, and she doesn't take Hollywood too seriously. Plus, she's rocking that very same short crop with sideswept fringe. We see a pattern here...

2. She has a killer sense of style.

The actress has been on a whirlwind press tour the past few weeks, treating us to one fabulous red-carpet look after another. From Zuhair Murad to Stella McCartney, she's worn a variety of designer looks and dazzled in each one.

3. She has no time for material things.

She may rock couture gowns on the red carpet, but when she's off-duty, you won't find her in designer labels. Shailene told The Hollywood Reporter that she wears only used clothing, chooses not to own a home and lives a 'vagabond lifestyle.' She explained: 'I'm going to be a citizen of this planet, and I'm going to do my responsibility and live in stride with nature instead of constantly fighting against her.'

4. She's learning from the best.

Shailene stars alongside Kate Winslet in Divergent - and she's certainly learnt a thing or two from the Hollywood veteran.

'As a young woman it has been such an honour to see somebody who has navigated this industry in such a beautiful and professional way,' she told Kate at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. 'I couldn't be more honoured to know you and to work with you and to learn from you.'

5. She's open-minded about love.

The actress lives her unique lifestyle with two friends - a man and a woman. But while she insists they're not romantically involved, she does take a nontraditional approach to relationships. 'I fall in love with human beings based on who they are, not based on what they do or what sex they are,' she told The Hollywood Reporter.

6. She has zero interest in being a celebrity.

Even though she's right on the edge of reaching A-list status, Shailene couldn't care less about her fame level. In fact, she outwardly hates the idea. 'To me the C-word is "celebrity," the F-word is "famous" and the S-word is "star,"' she told iVillage in 2012. 'I despise those words.'
