The smouldering Twi-star would love to tread the boards, but fears overexcited fans would ruin his stint on stage
Last year, multitalented Twi-star Robert Pattinson spoke his wish to have a music career. In fact he even got himself a slot on the Twilight soundtrack. Now R-Patz has revealed he would like turn his hand to theatre, but fears over excited Twilight fans would ruin his stint on stage.
Although he’s been in the limelight for nearly four years, Rob has admitted he still finds his worldwide fame completely baffling.
Speaking of one of the downsides of his popularity, the star revealed he would love to tread the boards in theatres, but is worried Twilight fans would ruin his performance, and put off other theatregoers.
Instead R-Patz has had to put his theatre plans on hold, preferring to stick to the big screen, where he can keep a safe distance from the audience.
‘I love to do theatre stuff but right now I couldn’t imagine it being a good experience,’ Rob told WENN.
‘I just couldn’t imagine it being anything other than people constantly taking photos and stuff.
‘I think it’s too much for me to take. I need to have that separation. It’s like there’s too much energy in an audience.’
Earlier this month, Rob spoke of learning to cope with obsessive Twilight fans, revealing he would now rather drive across state than fly, to avoid waiting crowds at the airport.
‘It is weird. You have to wonder, What do they want?’ he told Vanity Fair.
I can’t really understand it even now.’ Rob added of the Saga’s massive success. ‘It does have an angle which is attached to something quite primal in girls. I guess people want it to define them, like ‘I’m a Twilight fan. That’s crazy to me.
