Renee Zellweger missed Golden Globes to comfort Bradley Cooper

The Bridget Jones star – who was supposed to be presenting at the ceremony – rushed to her beau's side, after his dad passed away

Bridget Jones beauty Renee Zellweger caused a stir on Sunday, by dropping out of her top presenting spot at the Golden Globes just hours before the ceremony was due to begin.

But now it’s been revealed the star hurriedly pulled her slot to be at beau Bradley Cooper’s side, after his father passed away.

Usually a firm fixture on the red carpet during awards season, it’s thought Renee shelved her work plans the second she heard the sad news, and rushed to be by her boyfriend’s side.

Bradley’s father died on Saturday night aged 71, after battling a long-standing illness.

Renee and Brad began dating back in 2009, but the A-list couple have gone to great lengths to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

In fact the private pair have never confirmed their romance.

But last year, Bradley gushed about his rumoured beau during an interview for thriller flick Case 39.

‘I can’t say enough about her,’ he gushed on Hollywood show Entertainment Tonight about taking his romance to the big screen. I just love her.’
