High school student gets her dream to look like Beyonce at Prom

Can you look back on your prom photos without cringing? Probably not. Side-fringes, diamanté, strategic cut outs: teenage formal wear is a minefield of sartorial disasters, and most of us end up seriously regretting what we wore. But embarrassing prom photos definitely won't be a problem for India Ross, an 18 year old high-school student from St Louis, Missouri.

India wanted a super strong prom look, so who better to channel than style icon Queen Bey? India explained that she loved Beyoncé, and that she'd been lusting over her dress ever since last year's Met Gala. Whilst the original Givenchy dress wasn't an option, India wanted her very own version, so she approached a local dressmaker.

Ross went on to explain: “When I gave my designer my money, I said, ‘Can you make me feel like I’m Beyoncé?’ And that’s what she did,” And the designer seriously delivered, so much so that Ross's prom dress has gone viral.

The dress, which is strikingly similar to the Givenchy Haute couture dress Beyoncé wore to the Met Gala, cost $800 and according to Ross was made from mesh material, embellished with 2,000 hand placed crystals. “I had a local designer, Toi Hall, create it with the assistance of her brother.” Ross told US Weekly.

Ross even styled her hair in the same side pony Bey rocked, leaving feeling like the Queen herself. “My date and I felt like Beyoncé and Jay-Z,” India told Buzzfeed.

India is reportedly set to start a degree in fashion and business in the autumn, but it seems like she's already setting trends, before she's even set foot on campus.
