Princess Beatrice's unlocked BMW stolen while she shopped

Princess Beatrice has been left red faced, after her BMW was stolen as she left it unlocked with the key in the ignition while she shopped.

The daughter of the Duchess of York stopped by a shop in Kensington, south London, leaving the car outside unlocked. Although she had a police protection officer with her at the time, he'd accompanied her as she shopped.

When the pair returned to the car, a BMW 1 Series with personalised number plates, it had disappeared. Witnesses confirmed that they saw it being driven off at great speed by the opportunistic thief, in broad daylight.

Following the discovery of the theft, a marked patrol car arrived at the scene, followed by a car carrying Princess Eugenie. The two sisters then went to a nearby pub.

It is reported that Beatrice has been left 'extremely embarrassed' by the incident. A source revealed to The Sun, 'She is naturally very shocked and upset. It is particularly embarrassing given that she is always accompanied by a police bodyguard.'

The 20-year-old Princess is currently on holiday from her University History of Art art course, which she is studying at London's Goldsmiths University. She has been referred to as the most intelligent Royal, after leaving school in 2007 with three A-levels, an A and two Bs, beating the previous best record, Prince William's A,B and C.

Looks like her title may be up for debate after this embarrassing incident!
