Andy Murray will be honoured with an OBE, as Prince William stands in for the Queen at Buckingham Palace later today

Prince William will take part in his first investiture ceremony today, where he’ll present Wimbledon champion Andy Murray with an OBE.

The Duke of Cambridge will stand in for the Queen for the first time this afternoon, by awarding several honours at Buckingham Palace.

Kate Middleton’s husband is said to be ‘a bit nervous’ as he prepares to create two knights and various other prestigious titles alongside Andy.

Wills hasn’t wasted much time in fulfilling his new royal duties since leaving the armed forces in September, while adjusting to fatherhood following the birth of Prince George this July.

A royal source told The Telegraph: 'William has been practicing using the sword and pinning the medals on a servant so that he gets it right.

'He obviously doesn’t want to slice anyone’s ear off or stick a pin into their chest!'

Bless him.

As Andy prepares to receive his OBE, the fashion pack are awaiting an appearance by his ever-stylish girlfriend, Kim Sears. Will the couple wear matching Burberry? Watch this space…
