The two-hour show, a performance of military theatre, features stunts, battle re-enactments and a host of special effects.

Last year, the Queen bagged a front row seat, but this year it is the turn of Prince William and Kate Middleton to represent the Royal Family at the event.

Chief executive of ABF The Soldiers' Charity, Martin Rutledge, said: 'We are thrilled that TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend this year's British Military Tournament.

'Not only is the tournament an exciting spectacle and a great family day out, it is our biggest fundraising event and brings together the three single service charities supporting every generation of our military family.

'To have The Duke and Duchess in attendance is a true honour.'

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a Remembrance Sunday service in London over the weekend, where Prince William laid a wreath, and both tool part in a two minutes silence.

Kate Middleton recycled a sombre black Diane Von Furstenberg coat, first seen at last year's service, for the occasion.
