Peaches Geldof calls time on six-month marriage

She said it wouldn’t last forever, and it didn’t: Peaches Geldof’s marriage to Max Drummey is over after just six months.

Bob Geldof’s daughter married the Chester French musician in August 2008 in a whirlwind Las Vegas ceremony, just weeks after meeting him.

But Peaches, who admitted last year that she doubted the union would ‘last forever’, issued a joint statement from her New York home this weekend, which read: ‘After much soul searching we have made the mutual decision to end our marriage and have agreed to go our separate ways.

‘Our parting is amicable and both of us still respect and care about each other immensely. There were no other people involved in this decision and we both look forward to a future as good friends.’

Friends say Peaches has not been living with Max for weeks, instead staying with a girlfriend in a Greenwich Village apartment.

Her continued close friendship with ex-boyfriend Faris Badwin and a growing closeness with New York-based musician Donald Cumming reportedly contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.

Peaches spent New Year’s Eve in Miami with Cumming, who plays in indie rock band The Virgins.

They were also spotted at a nightclub before Christmas and their friendship was said to have infuriated her husband.

It will surely be hard for dad Sir Bob to resist playing the ‘I told you so’ card.
