Natalie Portman has revealed her new flick Thor prevented the onset of physical break down after Black Swan

Black Swan may have bagged Natalie Portman an Oscar, but it also left her on the brink of a physical breakdown, the actress has revealed. After a run of gruelling training in preparation for the ballet themed movie, the 29-year-old actress was heading towards a large-scale meltdown, but she attributes latest movie, Thor, for bringing her back from the brink.

The expectant mum spoke to The Sun about filming the blockbuster: ‘It probably delayed the onset of a total breakdown from the efforts of doing Black Swan, which is going to hit at any moment.

'We got nice long breaks and I got to read in my trailer which was very comfortable and has a bed. I could eat whenever I wanted and train whenever I felt like it.’

Following on from her star turn as disturbed ballerina Nina Sayers, she also starred alongside Ashton Kutcher in rom-com No Strings Attached.

‘Both were very fun projects, surrounded by friends,' the actress explained. 'They were both the gentlest of any work experience I could have gone into after the extreme situation of doing Black Swan.'

Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh, is already receiving glowing reviews, with Natalie playing the role of an astrophysicist.

‘Getting to see Ken everyday was a prize!’ the actress admitted.
