Marion Cotillard has been cast as Lady Macbeth in a new film adaptation of the Shakespearean tragedy, replacing Natalie Portman.
Considering they’re both Oscar winners and faces of Dior, it’s perhaps no great surprise that Marion Cotillard has landed the role that Natalie Portman was originally slated to take on, playing Lady Macbeth in See-Saw Films’ Macbeth, due to start filming in January 2014.
The film, which stars Michael Fassbender as the tormented antihero, will be directed by Justin Kurzel and is from the same production duo of Iain Canning and Emile Sherman, who were behind 2011’s Oscar-winning movie, The King’s Speech.
This one definitely sounds like a winner.
And Marion as the scheming, murderous, Lady M? Bring. It. On.
