Madonna on divorce: I may have thrown myself off a building

In a revealing new interview, Madonna has opened up on her divorce from Guy Ritchie, and said she might have 'thrown myself off a building,' had she not busied herself with work.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Material Girl revealed that the split was 'challenging' and added that she was 'grateful that I had work to do.'

With her sons, Rocco and David, now splitting time between their mother's and father's homes, she divulged that life post-divorce continued to be hard: 'My sons aren't with me right now, they're with their father, and I'm not very comfortable with the idea of my children not living together.'

Away from family life, the superstar singer took the opportunity to dish on her celebrity friends and collaborators.

When the interviewer commented that Lady Gaga was a new source of comparison, Madonna couldn't help but agree that contrasts were justified: 'I see myself in Lady Gaga. When I saw her, she didn't have a lot of money for her production. she's got holes in her fishnets, and there's mistakes everywhere. It was kind of a mess, but I can see that she has that IT Factor. It's nice to see that at a raw stage.'

As for her collaborators, she was full of praise for Justin Timberlake. 'Justin is a brilliant songwriter,' she admitted. 'He's sort of a Cary Grant. I love him. I love working with him.'

However, she added that not everyone was keen to work with her, 'I wanted to work with Eminem. I don't think he wanted to work with me. Maybe he's shy.' MADONNA STYLE RETROSPECTIVE: ALL THE LOOKS HERE!
