Oh, William

Words by Jadie Troy-Pryde

Last week, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced that they are expecting their third child. The Duke and Duchess are already parents to four-year-old Prince George, who started school just last week, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte who loves to dance - just like her late grandmother, Princess Diana.

While no further details have emerged about whether William and Kate are expecting a boy or a girl, it is thought that Kate wants to opt for a traditional royal birth this time around. But when exactly will the couple be welcoming their third bundle of joy?

It is no secret now that Kate uses this very clever hair trick to distract us just before she announces that she is pregnant, but it was reported that the Duke and Duchess broke the news to their family just days before it was revealed to the public. Allegedly, they were forced to share the news earlier than they had anticipated, leading many to believe that Kate had not reached the end of her first trimester when the announcement was made.

And it seems that there could be something to this theory, as eagle-eyed fans of the royal couple believe that Prince William slipped up when asked about how Kate was holding up. She famously suffered from acute morning sickness with her previous two pregnancies, and Kensington Palace revealed that she is once again feeling unwell at the hands of Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

William opened up about Kate's pregnancy while speaking at a press conference on mental health in Oxford. When congratulated by the chair of Oxfordshire Charity Council, the 35-year-old prince replied, ‘Thank you, it’s very good news.’

‘It was a bit anxious to start with,’ he added, before explaining that he was ready to ‘start celebrating this week.’

Traditionally, pregnancies are announced at the end of the first trimester, around the twelve week mark. Royal enthusiasts are now taking this to mean that Kate is just coming up to twelve weeks pregnant, which would make her due date some time in March.

We can't wait to meet the little royal!
