Lady Gaga quite rightly isn't going to take the comments about her weight gain lying down

Lady Gaga has quite rightly hit back at claims she's gained weight by branding society as 'ugly' and stepping out in a particularly unflattering dress.

The singer found herself at the centre of attention last week, not for some crazy antic she'd pulled off but for comments some people made about the star's weight.

Gagawas reportedly told to shed 11kg (1st 11lb) by her record company but in response the star used Twitter to slam what she called our 'ugly' society.

After posting a photo of the notoriously curvy Marilyn Monroe, Gaga wrote: 'To all the girls that think you’re ugly because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one. It’s society who’s ugly.

‘Thanks to my fans who love me no matter what, and know the meaning of real beauty&compassion.

‘I really love you.’

Gaga, 26, also then seemed to make fun of the talk surrounding her weight by stepping out in Paris wearing a tres unusual balloon dress, that more resembled a fat suit than haute couture.

Last week, the Born This Way star blamed the delicious food at her Dad's Italian restaurant for any weight gain, which was a far cry from the controversy caused a few months previously when she told fans she was eating a salad but ‘dreaming of a cheeseburger’ before claiming ‘pop stars don’t eat’.
