We 'have always believed we are soulmates'

Lady Gaga has released a statement following her breakup from longtime love Taylor Kinney.

‘Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break,’ the singer confirmed on Instagram Tuesday with a black and white photo of the pair with their arms wrapped around each other's shoulder.

Earlier this month, Gaga, 30, and Kinney, 35, ended their engagement after five years together. The Chicago Fire actor proposed on Valentine's Day 2015 at the singer's family's Manhattan restaurant Joanne's Trattoria.

‘We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other,’ Mother Monster concluded her post.

On Tuesday, Gaga was spotted in Malibu, California following her recent trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where she was spotted without her heart-shaped Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring.

A source previously shared remarks similar to Gaga's, telling People: ‘She's working on an album, he's working on his show, they aren't in the same state, it was just hard. They both love each other very much and they want it to work. It's just been tough with the long distance.’
