Kiefer Sutherland in trouble after 'headbutting' designer in Brooke Shield's defense
Kiefer Sutherland could have landed himself in hot water again after allegedly ‘headbutting’ a top designer while defending Brooke Shield’s honour.
The 24 star was enjoying himself at a Costume Institute Gala after-party in New York’s SubMercer bar on Monday night when Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough allegedly knocked over the actress.
According to gossip website TMZ.com, Sutherland saw it happen and told him to apologise.
McCollough reportedly didn’t take too kindly to the instruction, and is said to have then pushed Sutherland, who allegedly responded with a headbutt, which reportedly broke the designer’s nose.
The fashionable party was crammed with A-list celebrities, and Mary-Kate Olsen and Kirsten Dunst are said to be among those that witnessed the incident.
But Lipstick Jungle star Brooke Shield‘s spokesman said McCollough ‘did nothing inappropriate to her’, adding: ‘It’s not clear what caused Kiefer to do what he did.’
But, pressed on whether McCollough had touched Shields at all, the spokesman said: ‘We don’t know.’
A NYPD spokesperson said: ‘There was an incident that occurred at 2 am at 99 Prince St. It’s all under investigation by the police department… People will come in sometime this afternoon to be questioned.’
The spot of bother could spell trouble for Kiefer, who is on probation in Los Angeles after being arrested for drink driving.
He served 48 days in jail in 2007 for the offence.
