OOPS: Katy Perry picks up Rihanna's award at NRJs
Katy Perry lit up the red carpet in a sparkling white suit at the prestigious NRJ Music Awards this weekend – but was left red-faced when she picked up an award that was actually won by R&B star Rihanna.
The I Kissed a Girl singer got off to a great start on the red carpet in Cannes, wearing a sharp white satin trouser suit.
Her good fortune continued when she picked up Best International Album for her hit collection One of the Boys.
But the star was later left squirming when she accepted an award for Best International Song – only to learn later that it was actually won by American star Rihanna.
The awards’ host Nikos Aliagas admitted the mistake at the end of the show and revealed that Rihanna’s Disturbia was the rightful winner.
Oh well. At least she was a winner in the fashion stakes – and she wasn’t the only one.
All eyes were on British singer Alesha Dixon as she shimmied up the red carpet in a leg-revealing, vibrant yellow minidress.
Mercy singer Duffy – who lost out to Katy in the Best International Album award – also looked fabulous in a strapless, black mini dazzler.
Other big names on the red carpet included British singer Seal – who turned up solo without his supermodel wife Heidi Klum – Senegalese singer Akon, The Pussycat Dolls (who bagged Best International Group) and Enrique Iglesias, who also won an award.
Britney Spears won Best International Video, but wasn’t present to pick up her award.
